Engineered Base and Skid
Heavy-section timber or fabricated steel skids sized to the load, with runners for forklift entry and marked sling points.
Machinery packaging services and export packing for industrial equipment, engineered around the weight, centre of gravity and journey of every machine.
Packaging for heavy machinery
Quick answerPronk India provides machinery export packaging in India: engineered ISPM-15 wooden crates or steel-skid packaging, VCI or vacuum barrier-foil corrosion protection, shock and tilt indicators, and on-site container lashing for machines from a few hundred kilograms to heavy, over-dimensional units.
CNC machines, presses, gearboxes, compressors, turbines, panels and complete production lines all need packaging that survives cranes, forklifts, trucks, port handling and weeks of sea humidity. As a company of Tri-Wall Japan, Pronk India combines Japanese packaging engineering with local crating, metal fabrication and lashing teams at 7 locations across India.
Machinery export packaging solutions
Every machine is different, so we do not sell a standard box. We start from your general-arrangement drawing, weight, centre of gravity (CG), lifting points and sensitive components, then design the packaging around them. A typical machinery export packaging scope includes:
Heavy-section timber or fabricated steel skids sized to the load, with runners for forklift entry and marked sling points.
The machine is bolted through its own foundation holes and braced so it cannot shift, tip or bounce during transport.
VCI film, VCI emitters, vacuum barrier foil with desiccant, or shrink wrapping, chosen by voyage length and destination climate.
Closed ISPM-15 pinewood or plywood crates, open framed crates, or Tri-Wall heavy duty corrugated for lighter equipment.
CG marks, sling marks, handling symbols, case numbers, tilt and shock indicators, and packing lists.
Our riggers load the crate and lash it inside containers, on flat racks or on trailers to the cargo-securing plan.
Choosing the right packaging
The right packaging depends on weight, fragility, mode of transport and how long the machine will be in transit or storage. This is how we usually recommend packaging for heavy machinery:
| Packaging type | Best for | Typical use |
|---|---|---|
| Closed wooden crate (ISPM-15) | Machines with exposed electronics, precision surfaces or long sea voyages | CNC machines, control panels, test rigs, spares |
| Open framed crate | Robust machines that need stacking protection but not full enclosure | Frames, castings, fabricated structures |
| Steel skid + barrier foil | Very heavy or tall machines where timber alone is not enough | Presses, gearboxes, compressors, transformers |
| Tri-Wall heavy duty corrugated | Lighter equipment where weight and ISPM-15 paperwork must be avoided | Electrical assemblies, automotive and engineering parts |
| Shrink wrap on skid | Oversized units shipped break-bulk or on flat racks | Vehicles, helicopters, large skids, project cargo |

FAQ
Machinery export packaging is the engineered packing of machines for international shipment. It usually combines a load-rated skid, bolting and bracing, corrosion protection such as VCI or vacuum barrier foil, an ISPM-15 compliant wooden crate or heavy duty corrugated box, handling marks, and container lashing.
For most heavy machinery shipped by sea, the best packaging is a heavy-timber or steel skid with the machine bolted down, sealed barrier-foil protection with desiccant, and a closed ISPM-15 wooden crate. Very large or robust machines may only need a skid, shrink wrap and lashing on a flat rack.
Yes. Most countries require solid wood packaging to be heat-treated and stamped to the ISPM-15 standard. Plywood, OSB and corrugated board are processed materials and are exempt, which is one reason Tri-Wall corrugated packaging is used for lighter equipment.
Yes. Pronk India's teams pack on site at customer factories, project sites and ports across India, as well as at our own packaging units, and then load and lash the cargo.
Simple crates can be built within a few days of receiving dimensions. Large or multi-case machines need a survey and design stage first. Share your dispatch date and we will plan backwards from it.
Machine dimensions and weight, a drawing or photos, the centre of gravity if known, lifting points, the destination country, mode of transport (FCL, LCL, flat rack, break-bulk or air) and the required dispatch date.
